About Leland Family Ministries

Our Mission and Vision

Leland Family Ministries is committed to connecting individuals, families, and neighbors to God’s love and direction through the Word of God. Our mission is to provide spiritual support and practical help amid life’s toughest challenges. Over the past 28 years, while our ministries have grown and evolved, our mission remains steadfast: To connect individuals, families, and neighbors to the Love of God and Direct them through the Word of God. The acronym LELAND stands for Love Everyone Lonely And Needing Direction, reflecting our belief that no one should face hard times alone. We all need love, direction, and connection, especially during difficult periods. No matter your history, struggles, addiction, or brokenness, there is hope and healing in Jesus.

Our Outreach Initiatives

Leland Family Ministries focuses on three main areas of outreach, each aimed at supporting individuals through life's hardest struggles:

  1. Neighborhood House of Ministry: Serving the North Lakeland, Florida community by fostering authentic community and sharing God's love unconditionally, and by providing weekly food distributions and neighborhood activities, and events that bring neighbors together to serve and support one another.

  2. Online Life Groups & Courses: Offering fellowship and spiritual growth through weekly Zoom meetings, Bible study, prayer, and mutual support to help members recover and become whole in Christ.

  3. Reentry Life Groups & Stay Out For Good Courses: Assisting individuals transitioning from incarceration with community support, mentorship, and biblical guidance to rebuild their lives and avoid recidivism.

Faith-Based Life Groups and Courses

We offer various faith-based life groups and courses to support individuals through different life challenges, including:

Recovery For Life Group: Providing a supportive community for individuals struggling with addiction, offering biblical guidance and practical help to overcome addiction and find renewed purpose in Christ.

Trauma Reboot: A 12-week, faith-based, peer-led course empowering individuals to overcome trauma and embrace a brighter future. This also includes a weekly aftercare group for course graduates.

Mental Health & Wellness Group: Addressing mental, physical, and spiritual health holistically, promoting balance, inner peace, and recovery through God-centered teachings.

Grief Support Course & Weekly Life Group: Offering a safe and supportive environment for individuals dealing with grief, providing biblical guidance and practical help to navigate the grieving process.

The Stay Out for Good Reentry Course: Supports individuals reentering society after incarceration. It teaches them how to deal with life issues during the transition back into the community. The course guides participants through biblical teachings and connects them to God’s love.

Our Founder and Executive Director

Leland Family Ministries was founded in 1997 by Libbie Windley, whose life experiences have deeply shaped the ministry's mission. Having grown up in an orphanage, overcome addiction, and faced the profound loss of her only child, Libbie possesses a unique and compassionate understanding of life's challenges. Her journey began with her son's incarceration, which inspired her to create a ministry focused on supporting incarcerated individuals, addicts, and their families. Over time, this vision expanded into a comprehensive community outreach initiative, offering help, resources, and support to anyone facing the trials of everyday life. We all encounter life's challenges, and Leland Family Ministries is here to help navigate the path to recovery and healing.

Libbie developed the "Recovery for Life" program, the first faith-based recovery program in Florida's jail, prison, and court system. She also initiated the "Meth Free Project," an educational program that became the first court-ordered methamphetamine program for probation offenders in the southeastern U.S. Because of the program's success, a Meth Free Project bill was submitted to the Florida State Legislature, passed, and signed into law by the governor. This legislative achievement underscored the program's impact and led to the establishment of the first-ever court-ordered methamphetamine programs for probation offenders in the southeastern region of the United States.

Libbie's dedication and leadership have been recognized at the state level, serving on Governor Jeb Bush's statewide faith-based Initiative Board and the Office of Drug Control Methamphetamine Task Force. Her work continues to impact lives, offering education, support, and hope to those in need.
